Wessex Male Choir (“The Wessex”) is a Swindon, Wiltshire-based men’s amateur choir. It was founded in September 2001, and currently has around 50 members.
Over the last 18 years, The Wessex has built a reputation for its professionalism and entertaining repertoire, and is in great demand for a variety of concert and other singing engagements. We typically perform 7or 8 concerts each year, two of these being our ‘home’ concerts in Swindon at Christmas and in the summer, the others being in other venues around the country. In 2019 for example, we performed with Barry Male Voice choir in the lovely Llandaff cathedral in South Wales and with the Brize Norton Military Wives Choir at their Christmas concert in Carterton Oxfordshire. We have, in previous years, been privileged to have sung, pre-match at 6 Nations and other Rugby and NFL matches on the pitch at both Twickenham and Wembley to audiences of up to 80,000 people.
The Wessex also occasionally enters regional and international choral competitions, frequently with very pleasing results – for example:

Wessex Camerata is a chamber group comprised of about 16 of our experienced singers who perform mainly a cappella pieces which supplement the main choir’s repertoire.
Associations with Other Choirs. The Wessex has had associations with a variety of other choirs – Men's Choirs, Ladies' Choirs, University Glee clubs etc, both from UK and Internationally and particularly enjoys performing joint concerts with these, often on a reciprocal basis.
