WMC topped the bill at Gloucester's centenary commemorative concert, marking the end of WW1. The concert raised funds for The Royal British Legion and the Rifles Regimental Association and included a selection of songs from the Great War as well as a number of Remembrance anthems.
The concert also included the world premiere of a new Remembrance piece called A Hymn for Fallen Comrades commissioned by Wessex Male Choir from acclaimed British composer Paul Mealor.
WMC were delighted to be invited to participate in the High Sherriff of Wiltshire's celebration of all things Swindon in a showcase at the Wyvern Theatre entitled 'Uncelebrated Journey'. The show featured contributions by dancers from the Northern Ballet Theatre, Paul Turner and Caroline Dale, Ten-in-a-Bar, the Janice Thompson Singers, Swindon Choral Society, Swindon Symphony Orchestra, and many more.

The Lirica youth choir was founded in 1972. Under the direction of its present conductor, Jos Venken, the choir has won prizes such as the first prize summa cum laude in The European Music Festival for Young people in Neerpelt.

This concert was at the invitation of Snowdown Colliery Male Choir, in support of the Rainbow Trust. Snowdown were popular guests of WMC in June 2005 at the Cricklade Festival, and both choirs enjoyed another joint concert.

The Sons of Orpheus included this concert in a short UK tour that included the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen. They ably demonstrated the reasons for their international reputation with a program including Verdi, Wagner and Janacek, followed by a selection of cowboy songs, culminating in the theme from Rawhide!
